What is it?
ππΏππ½ππ» A cape.
β¨ It's pretty fascinating how quickly behaviors change when you bust out the ol' cape trick.

ππ»How does it work?
First you make it very clear to them what each quality LOOKS LIKEβ¦
GET EXPLICIT
ππΏKindness:
means being a good friendβ¦
it means you ask βare you okβ when you see someone get hurt..
it means you smile at peopleβ¦
ππ½Patience:
means you can wait in a calm way,
so when you raise your hand,
your body is still
and you arenβt making any noise,
youβre being patient.
When you are standing in line,
your body is calm,
your feet are still,
you are standing patiently!
ππΏOnce they are clear on what each quality LOOKS LIKEβ¦(meaning they know EXACTLY what they need to do and say β to show each quality)
THEN, you bust out a capeβ¦
ππΌYou can use multiple if youβd likeβ¦
I used different colored capes for different qualities:
π green is for hard workers
π yellow is for being a good friend
ππΌYou can use capes to teach ANY QUALITY youβd likeβ¦
As long as you make it clear to your students WHAT THAT QUALITY LOOKS LIKEβ¦
Because then, they know what they need to do TO GET TO WEAR THE CAPE!
And so β When you finally bust out the capesβ¦
You spot a kid exhibiting the qualities and put the cape on them.
They wear it for awhile and then (the best part) THEY get to pick another kid who's exhibiting the same quality.
THEN, They pass it on.
*Make sure to MODEL & PRACTICE exactly how you want students to pass the cape.
Other qualities you can highlight with capes:
working hard
perseverance (trying when things are hard)
sharing
β¨ You can use capes to teach ANY QUALITY youβd like β as long as you make it clear to your students WHAT THAT QUALITY LOOKS LIKEβ¦
